Cruising

The arrivals of cruisers to Port of Split as port of call do not date too far in the past. Precisely, only in 2002 the cruisers started to sail in the port. That year Split was visited by 82 vessels, totalling 20.616 passengers, and in 2016 the port hosted 286 b vessels with totally 278.259 passengers. Besides increasing overall turnover, arrival of cruisers to Split has also changed the centennial paradigm about Split.

Former old transit centre and starting point to nearby islands, Split has changed and become the attractive tourist destination. With its Diocletian Palace, directly close to the port, ancient Salona only few kilometres from City centre and medieval town of Trogir – only 20 km away from Split, passengers from cruise vessels can visit in a single day cities Split and Trogir, two UNESCO world heritage sites, both ranked as the very top of world cultural and historical heritage.

Since 2002, the Port of Split has been visited by almost all world famous shipping companies: Carnival Cruises, Royal Caribbean Cruises, MSC Cruises, Costa Crociere, Cunard Line, Radisson Cruises, Celebrity Cruise, Fred Olsen Cruise Line, Club Med Cruises, Thomson Cruises, P & O Cruises, Norwegian Cruises Line, Viking Ocean Cruises, Princess Cruises and many others. There’s almost no shipping company which hasn’t sent at least one vessel from its fleet to Port of Split.

Today we can with certainty confirm that the port and the city of Split have become an unavoidable destination for cruise ships and all cruising companies.
